About Fiona Scanlan
Fiona works mainly with stoneware clay and glazes. She's equally happy making functional pots or decorative items and enjoys using all the pottery techniques, although currently she's concentrating on slab pottery, often making pieces that deliberately lean or twist. Her work is often highly patterned either through texture or the use of coloured clay slips.
Fiona came to ceramics at first through doing evening classes and as her clay addiction grew has worked at various pottery studios.
Fiona is inspired by landscapes, urban and rural and by abstract patterns. Here are some examples of her work.
