Sophia Binney Ceramics & Interiors

In September 2008 Alasdair Binney moved his Furniture business to a larger unit in Stoke Prior and his wife, Sophia, has taken on the studio fully to produce her pottery and painted furniture.

After some redecorating of the workshop she is now able to fully concentrate on making her slipware pottery.  Items in her range include Teapots & Cups, whole Dinner sets (made to order), Oven dishes, Jugs, Bowls, Lamp bases, Planters & Herb Vegetable Sticks. The designs carry traditional and contemporary elements and each piece is functional and made for every day use. All pots are dishwasher and oven proof. More recently she developed a range of beautifully decorated children’s plates and mugs which make wonderful christening presents. The name and the occasion can be added if wished.  .

Very popular are the personalized Hand & Footprints that Sophia takes of your Baby or older child. There are several designs available and prices start from only £25.

She also has produced some inspiring interior tiles which can be used as a part or as the whole of a wall or floor design.

Her love of ‘folk art’ has led her to create a range of beautiful, unique, painted mirrors, blackboards and furniture which are made by her husband Alasdair.

Sophia has painted mirrors, furniture and murals for private commissions.  Sophia says “Sometimes an old piece of furniture or mirror just needs a new ‘face’ and you will be surprised to see what a few nice shades of coloured paints, some wax and steel wool can do to create a stunning effect”.

Sophia frequently hosts the well-loved ‘hands on clay’ children’s pottery classes and Birthday parties here at the Jinney Ring. Events are held the whole year round.
